Chiswick & Acton Police Join Forces to Combat Rising Crime Rates in Collaborative Effort
Rising crime grips Chiswick High Road, locals alarmed by robberies, demand increased police presence for safety.
This week, a collaborative effort between East Acton Police and the Metropolitan Police in Chiswick led to a joint operation on Chiswick High Road, specifically targeting shoplifting incidents.
PC Ryan Sharpe, part of the operation, successfully apprehended a female suspect who was found in possession of stolen items along with a pair of bolt cutters. Subsequently, the suspect has been charged and remanded, marking a positive step in addressing the prevalent issue.
Chiswick High Road has witnessed a concerning increase in crime, highlighted by four high-profile robberies in recent months, including two incidents at Boots Chemist. The local community expresses heightened unease due to a perceived lack of visible police presence.
In response to a recent robbery at a high-end men's clothing store, there has been a slight increase in the visibility of community support officers along Chiswick High Road. However, with crime persisting, especially in terms of store robberies and shoplifting, the Chiswick community remains on edge, hoping for more robust and sustained efforts from local law enforcement to effectively tackle the escalating crime levels.
