Chiswick Crime Feeling Like the 'Wild West'

Chiswick High Road Target Of Shoplifters, Thieves and Muggers

Chiswick Crime Feeling Like the 'Wild West'
The affluent London village of Chiswick is reeling from a spate of crimes, including muggings and shoplifting, despite its reputation as a haven for the wealthy and famous. The normally tranquil streets, home to celebrities like David Tennant and Ant and Dec, have become a hotbed of criminal activity, with residents and businesses falling prey to brazen thieves.

One of the most shocking incidents involved Aled Jones, the host of Songs of Praise, who was robbed at machete-point while out with his son. This alarming trend of violence has left both locals and visitors shaken and wary.

In addition to violent muggings, shoplifting has become rampant, plaguing boutique stores and even charity shops. Thieves, emboldened by the lack of resistance, brazenly snatch items and flee, leaving retailers struggling to combat the surge in thefts.

Fashion boutiques along Chiswick High Road have resorted to extreme measures, implementing locked-door policies to deter thieves. Customers now enter stores one at a time, a precaution against the notorious "grab-and-go" tactics employed by criminals.

Even charity shops, traditionally safe havens, have not been spared, with thieves seizing any opportunity to pilfer goods. The situation has escalated to the point where valuable items are kept behind counters, and racks of clothes are padlocked to prevent theft.

The alarming rise in crime has left residents and business owners disillusioned, prompting calls for increased security measures and police intervention. Despite being an affluent enclave, Chiswick finds itself grappling with the harsh reality of urban crime, underscoring the need for vigilance and community action.

Most recently a shoplifter was spotted at the Boots Chemist on Chiswick High Rd singing to himself as he emptied shelves of goods worth hundreds of pounds while an onlooker filmed.

A Chiswick local was quoted as saying that crime in the area makes Chiswick feel like the 'Wild West' with little happening to stop the increase of theft, burglary or assaults.

Local police seem not be a deterrent to the shoplifters who are getting more brazen as the days and weeks pass without getting caught.

Although 'SHOPLIFTERS ARE NOT WELCOME HERE' signs are prevalent along the Chiswick High Road, they do little to deter the spate of shoplifters targeting the Chiswick neighborhood that brazenly steal thousands of pounds worth or products on a weekly basis.
