Freddie Mercury's Iconic Kensington Home 'Garden Lodge' Hits Market for £30 Million

London's musical legacy extends beyond iconic venues to the residences of legendary artists, such as Freddie Mercury. His Kensington home, Garden Lodge, recently hit the market after a Sotheby's auction raised an impressive £39,435,000, some of which went to charity.

Nestled behind an 8-foot fence in a tranquil residential area beyond Cromwell Road, Garden Lodge offers a haven surrounded by a beautiful Japanese-inspired garden. With eight bedrooms and ample entertaining spaces, including a dining room that witnessed star-studded gatherings, the property exudes charm.

The upstairs area features a four-part primary suite with an Art Deco dressing room and a terrace providing a scenic view of the garden. However, acquiring this unique residence comes with a hefty price tag — a staggering £30 million.

Garden Lodge has a rich history, once belonging to painter Cecil Rea and later inhabited by Sotheby's chairman Peter Wilson. Following Freddie Mercury's passing in 1991, the property became the residence of his close friend Mary Austin.

This iconic home encapsulates the spirit of Freddie Mercury and offers a glimpse into the extravagant lifestyle of one of music's greatest legends, making it a truly remarkable piece of London's cultural history.
