20 Creatures Brutally Killed During Gunnersbury Park Break-in! 2 Youths Appear in Court

Two juveniles, aged 11 and 12, made an appearance at the Uxbridge Magistrates’ Youth Court on Thursday, March 14th, in connection with an incident at Gunnersbury Park the previous month. It was alleged that on the night of February 25th, they unlawfully entered the park, subsequently breaching the premises of Capel Manor College situated within its confines. During this trespass, they vandalized enclosures housing various animals, such as rabbits, ferrets, snakes, and birds, and pilfered some of the creatures.

The prosecution revealed that CCTV footage captured the youths callously mistreating the animals, including throwing them and stomping on them, resulting in the tragic death of twenty of the animals. Furthermore, the delinquents caused additional havoc by inflicting damage to the nearby pitch and putt facility. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they discovered children inside the changing rooms at Gunnersbury Park Sports Hall, where they were found amusing themselves with a snake.

Among the animals released by the offenders was a barn owl named Shiraz, which was fortunately recovered near Heathrow Airport. The defendants pleaded guilty to charges of causing criminal damage and subjecting animals to unnecessary suffering. The prosecution sought to pursue more severe charges that would directly attribute responsibility to the defendants for the deaths of the animals.

Despite their claims that they never intended harm to the animals and that the presence of dogs within the facility resulted from their break-in, the defendants were unable to escape culpability. Both minors were granted bail and are scheduled for sentencing at the same court on April 4th.
