The Less Popular Baby Names We Might Lose Forever

When it comes to selecting a baby name, parents often invest hours in creating a shortlist before settling on a moniker. However, it appears that a significant number of names are facing potential "extinction" in 2024, according to experts.

The team at BabyCenter has compiled a list of boys' and girls' names that are anticipated to vanish from school registers as parents show less interest in them.

The statement notes, "Girls' names that were once popular during the Millennials' birth years have experienced a decline in the past decade. Names like Amanda, Angela, Brooke, Diana, and Michelle, which were all among the top 100 in the 1980s and '90s, have seen a decrease in popularity in 2023."

For boys, names ending with "-aden" that were trendy in the 2000s are now facing diminished favor. Aidan dropped from No. 253 in 2022 to No. 346 in 2023; Raiden fell from No. 286 to No. 433, and Jaiden fell from No. 325 to No. 426.

The statement continues, "Last names repurposed as first names are losing appeal for both boys and girls. Names like Baylor, Bradley, Brady, Clayton, Hendrix, Preston, and Reid have seen a decline for boys.

For girls, Oaklee (often spelled Oakley as a surname), Mckenzie (typically spelled MacKenzie as a surname), Raegan, and Sawyer are also on the wane."

A special mention goes to Bradley, which has made this list for the second time.
